(Doha) – Lt. General HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior signed the “GCC Police Force” (GCC-POL) agreement, to be based in Abu Dhabi, between the United Arab Emirates, and the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council for Arab States, represented by Dr. Abdul Latif Bin Rashid Al Zayani, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
The signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of the 34th meeting of the GCC Interior Ministers that was held in the sisterly State of Qatar.
Lt. General H.H Sheikh Saif bin Zayed headed the UAE’S high-level delegation at the 34th meeting of the GCC Interior Ministers. Upon arrival to Doha, HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed was welcomed by Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.
In his statement on the occasion, HH Sheikh Saif bin Zayed praised the efforts exerted by his Qatari counterpart; citing the good organization of the meeting and the warm and gracious welcome that had been extended to the UAE delegation. He hailed the brotherly endeavors made by the GCC states to further consolidate and develop cooperation; with the aim of achieving optimal results that will benefit the nations and peoples of the region.
During the Meeting, the GCC Interior Ministers discussed various topics related to enhancing cooperation and coordination amongst GCC member states, as well as the recommendations issued by the security committees, and other topics of mutual interest.
