(Paris) – Foreign Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) held a meeting in Paris with US Secretary of State John Kerry, with UAE Foreign Minister H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan also participating.
Latest regional and international developments of common concerns figured high on the agenda of the Paris meeting which will lay the groundwork for a summit on May 13-14 in Washington and Camp David between US President Barack Obama and the six-nation GCC.
The meeting took stock of progress in operations launched by the coalition to restore stability and security in Yemen, support its legitimate government and put an end to regional interference that threatens strategic security in the region.
In this context, the two sides recognised the need for rallying regional and international efforts to enhance pillars of security, peace and stability in the region and to support countries to confront tremendous challenges including terrorism, extremism and violence and to stand against groups that seek to impose themselves as an alternative to the nation state.
