(Abu Dhabi) – The U.A.E. Foreign Minister, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, received at the St. Regis Hotel Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikha Hasina Wajed, who is currently visiting the country. During the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah and Sheikha Hasina discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the U.A.E. and Bangladesh, especially in the fields of economic relations and investment. They also reviewed a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Welcoming the Prime Minister’s visit, Sheikh Abdullah said that it would contribute to the further strengthening of co-operation and friendship between the two countries. He stressed the importance of economic and trade cooperation as well as the identification of investment opportunities so as to help to achieve the Millennium Development Goals, especially in the area of energy.
Sheikh Abdullah expressed his appreciation for the effective role of the Bangladeshi workforce and its contributions to various development projects in the U.A.E., adding that there was a need for a mutual exchange of visits between businessmen and investors in both countries to open new horizons for co-operation.
For her part, Sheikha Hasina said that her country was eager to develop its relations with the U.A.E. and also thanked the U.A.E. for its concern for the welfare of the Bangladeshi community and workforce in the Emirates. She also expressed her admiration of the comprehensive urban development achieved by the U.A.E., thanks to the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
