(Manama) – Deputy Prime Minister and President of the Supreme Council for the Development of Education and Training chaired in his office at Gudaibiya Palace the council’s meeting which spotlighted priorities of the education and training development project for the academic year 2017-2018.

The project includes initiatives to develop the University of Bahrain, private higher education standards, applied and vocational education, the output of the Teachers College and performance of public schools. It also aims to stimulate distinction in private education and promote the role of the Education and Training Quality Authority.

Shaikh Mohammed underlined the importance of developing the performance of teachers and the school leadership as well as academic curricula in order to improve the students’ academic level.

The meeting also shed light on the teachers’ professional criteria that aim to promote the best practices in teaching. It also reviewed a report by the Education and Training Quality Authority on preparation of the national exams which will be carried out in the second semester for grades six and twelve.

The council approved the proposed plan to develop Bahrain Polytechnic in preparation for its gradual implementation to improve the vocational and applied educational output. Shaikh Mohammed underscored the need to promote the role of the college in pumping competencies into the local job market.
