DEWA and Belgian company discuss relations

(Dubai) – Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, DEWA, has received a delegation from Belgian company CMI Solar, led by Jean-Michel Gheeraerdts, President of CMI Energy Group, accompanied by Eric Absil, President of CMI Solar, Michel Lalemand, Vice President of CMI Solar, Thomas Bauthier, Projects Manager, and Christophe Corteil, Projects Developer.

The visit built closer ties between DEWA and CMI Solar and promote knowledge-sharing and best practices in renewable energy, and showing DEWA’s expertise in delivering electricity and water to the highest standards of availability, reliability and efficiency.

Al Tayer welcomed the delegation and talked about the importance of mutual cooperation. He highlighted how DEWA is working to diversify energy resources to include clean energy to provide 7% of Dubai’s total power output from clean energy by 2020, 25% by 2030 and 75% by 2050. DEWA launched many projects and initiatives to serve this purpose, including the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest of its kind in the world on a single site. It will generate 5,000 MW by 2030.

The Belgian delegation commended the efforts of DEWA in renewable and clean energy sectors and expressed its intent to enhance cooperation to increase mutual trade and investment opportunities as well as promote the best possible relations.

The meeting was attended by Waleed Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence at DEWA, and Dr. Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA.
