
(Manama) – Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA)’s CEO Shaikh Khalid bin Hamood Al Khalifa has participated in the first meeting of the technical team in charge of the comprehensive vision for joint tourism business in the GCC countries.
The meeting was held on 25, 26 January 2017 in Bahrain. It reviewed the shared visions in the tourism sector, which is an essential element for stimulating the national economy and pushing the Gulf sustainable development forward.
Representatives of GCC tourism authorities took part in the meeting and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation.
The participants reviewed a range of successful international tourism experiences and presented a number of initiatives for enhancing cooperation; regulating the tourism industry; establishing a tourism website to highlight tourist sites in Gulf countries; staging exhibitions and conferences; in addition to involving representatives of tourist companies in tours to learn about tourist sites in the Gulf countries.
On the sidelines of the meeting, BTEA CEO said the meeting provided a good opportunity for the development of the tourism sector. Adding the meeting stressed the need to strengthen Gulf identity, exchange expertise and information and launch joint marketing strategy for promoting the national economy according to Bahrain’s comprehensive vision.
