
(Manama) – A delegation from the Industrial Committee of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), headed by Mr. Abdulhamid Abduljabbar Al-Kooheji visited the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) at the invitation of the latter.
Company President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, members of the Executive Management and Deputy Chairman of the Labour Union welcomed the delegation.
Dr. Jawahery said the visit was an opportunity to take a look at the plant and discuss investment in Bahrain’s industrial sector as well as informing them about the development of GPIC, its operations and production along with other issues regarding the petrochemical industry.
Dr. Jawahery appreciated efforts of the Committee to lead and to serve Bahrain’s private sector and to enhance its capabilities to meet all situations and challenges as required under His Majesty’s reform project. He also praised the interest the members of the Committee showed in the future of Bahrain’s economy and play a vital role the development of the trade, industry, business and investment sectors.
The two sides also reviewed GPIC’s operations and its future projects, which are expected to benefit the company and its shareholders.
The visitors were briefed on its programmes and achievements related to production, safety, marketing, environmental conservation and social responsibility. They were told about GPIC’s winning international awards and its solid reputation in the regional and international markets. The delegation toured the company’s factories and its environmental projects, which reflect the harmony between the industry and the environment.
The guests went to the charity fish farm and the bird sanctuary. Later, they visited the Company’s Club, where they were briefed on its programmes and activities as well as the facilities and the high-quality equipment for use by the employees and their families. They attended a luncheon organised in their honour.
Mr. Al Kooheji thanked the GPIC Board of Directors and the Executive Management for inviting the Committee to see for themselves and get updated on the Company’s development. He said the Bahrain-based GPIC is a model of GCC cooperation and a symbol of strengthening relations between the Gulf countries.
He said the Company’s most important feature, in addition to its professional and industrial success, are its services, ideas and strategies issues of occupational safety and health as well as community partnership. He spoke about GPIC’s role in various sporting, cultural, environmental and humanitarian events and said it is a model to be emulated by other companies.
Mr. Al Kooheji thanked Dr. Jawahery and the others for the welcome and the hospitality and said he wished the Company would win more awards and accolades locally and internationally as a result of the hard work and dedication of its employees.
