Bahrain elected to chair WTO committee

(Manama) – Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Zayed bin Rashid Al-Zayani, congratulated Bahrain Commercial Attaché in Geneva, Khaled Jamal Almer, on his election by the World Trade Organization as the Chairman of the Committee on Trade in Financial Services, one of the four subcommittees to the Council for Trade in Services for 2017.

The Committee on Trade in Financial Services conducts discussion on issues related to trade in financial services and drafting proposals and recommendations to be considered by the Council for Trade in Services. The committee is responsible for the ongoing review and monitor to implement the general agreement on trade in services, and works as a forum for technical discussion and study regulatory developments affecting the trade in financial services.

Bahrain is a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO) since its establishment in 1995. WTO currently has 164 members.
