20 June has been marked by United Nations as the World Refugee Day. To describe the significance of this day, United Nations Refugee Agency United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and other social groups across the world celebrated Refugee Day with an aim to draw public’s attention to the billions of refugees and internally displaced persons in the world who have been compelled to flee their homes due to wars, injustice and persecution.
Individuals and communities across the globe were encouraged to mark the day by attending a local World Refugee Day event, watching and sharing World Refugee Day videos, and raising awareness for refugees on social media.
