
The UAE Ramadan Moon Sighting Committee has announced that the holy month of Ramadan in the UAE for the Hijri year 1435 will begin on Sunday, June 29, 2014.
H.E. Dr Hadef bin Jowan Al Dhahiri, Minister of Justice and Chairman of the Moon Sighting Committee, in a statement following the committee’s meeting at the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, said that after investigation, application of relevant Sharia laws, and contacts with neighboring countries, Saturday, June 28, 2014, will be the last day of the Hijri month of Shaaban of 1435, and therefore Sunday, June 29, 2014, will be the first day of Ramadan.
Minister Al Dhaheri, in the statement, congratulated the President,His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates; General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and the Crown Princes of the Emirates on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan, and prayed to Allah Almighty to keep His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed in good health for the sake of his country, Arab nation and Muslim nation.
