(Manama) – The Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) has started a drive to plant trees in Bahrain’s schools, as part of an initiative in co-operation with the Ministry of Education.

The campaign is being implemented by GPIC’s Agri-Nutrients Committee for the second year in a row and involves planting of local Bahraini saplings.

Speaking on the occasion, GPIC President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery thanked Minister of Education Dr. Majid Al Nuaimi and said the trees – among them kallimon, guava, pomegranate and olive will be cultivated in a special designated area in each school.

The Ministry of Education stressed the initiative help in spreading awareness of the importance of the environment and work to motivate students to protect it by all means.
