Desert theatre festival opens in Sharjah

(Sharjah) – H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah attended the opening of the Sharjah Desert Thratre Festival at Kuhaif area.
Sheikh Sultan watched the inaugural show, an epic poem penned by him under the title “Alia and Isam”. He also attended the second show, an Emirati play titled “Towi Bakhita”, which is adapted from a novel with the same title by the Emirati author Maryam Al Ghafli.
The festival, which will run for four days, will attract numerous actors and artists who will stage various shows and plays. The event will focus on the vision of Sheikh Sultan of boosting the efforts of streamlining theatre in the emirate.
It is organised by the Theatre Department in Sharjah Department of Culture and Information.
In attendance were a number of Sheikhs, senior officials, artists and fans.
