(Geneva) – Health Minister, Faeqa bin Said Al-Saleh, participated in the 142nd session of the Executive Board of World Health Organisation (WHO), held at the WHO’s premises in Geneva from January 22 to 27.
According to the minister, the session discussed topics of strategic priority, mainly the draft thirteenth general programme of work 2019–2023, aiming to promote health, keep the world safe, and serve the vulnerable.
She also pointed out that the meetings focused on other key topics, including «health, environment and climate change», «addressing the global shortage of, and access to, medicines and vaccines», «physical activity for health», «maternal, infant and young child nutrition» and «the global vaccine action plan».
Teh minister also took part in the jury meeting to select the winners of the United Arab Emirates Health Foundation Prize, as representative of the Middle East region.
She expressed pride in the kingdom’s selection to be part of the high-profile meeting.
She added that the jury recommended the WHO Executive Board to nominate the Korea Institute of Drug Safety and Risk Management (KIDS) for the 20,000 US Dollar-prize to be awarded during WHO’s 71st session assembly in May.
