ANC celebrates 100 years

(South Africa) – African National Congress, South Africa’s oldest ruling party celebrated its 100th anniversary with a huge show of popular support.

A mid-night ceremony was held at the Wesleyan church in Bloemfontein where President Jacob Zuma lit a flame. The event was attended by African leaders and more former heads of state along with African kings and chieftains.

Huge centennial bash was also arranged at Bloemfontein stadium renowned as the movement’s birthplace. Tens of thousands of supporters participated in splashy celebrations; singing, dancing and waving the green and gold colors of the African National Congress. While addressing the supporters President Jacob Zuma said, “We need to ensure that our program of transforming our country is accelerated and taken to new steps”.
