(New York) – Countries are expected to adopt a “new, universal and meaningful” climate agreement next year, said a senior UN official. Selwin Hart, Director of the UN Secretary-General’s Climate Support Team, made his observation ahead of the Paris Climate Summit scheduled in 2015.
World leaders are expected to make new commitments and pledges to keep global temperatures below 2 degrees centigrade, according to UN Radio.
Hart said that the recent climate talks held in Lima, Peru have “paved the way” for a global pact.
