UAE marks International Youth Day

UAE marks International Youth DayUAE marked the International Youth Day 2012 held under the theme “Building a Better World: Partnering with Youth”. General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare hosted a plethora of events to mark the special day in attendance of a crowd of talent youth, decision-makers, researchers and media professionals.
Ibrahim Abdul Malik, Secretary General of the Authority, said the celebrations underscore the UAE’s sincere interest in attending international events as an active member of the world family. The Day crowns achievements the youth centres and organisations have made to empower the young generations and develop their capacities to contribute to the nation’s building and its future.
International Youth Day was created by the United Nations and first celebrated in 1998. The event is now marked on 12 August each year, the day aims to celebrate the contribution youths make to society.
