U.A.E. Space Agency symposium on Mars mission

(Abu Dhabi) – U.A.E. Space Agency has organised a symposium on its planned Mars probe mission where it introduced its goals and functions set in the federal decree issued earlier this year on the creation of the agency. Stakeholders from academic, industrial and government bodies in the U.A.E. took part in the gathering in which the Mars probe team gave an outline of the project and explained how the involved parties will contribute to, and benefit from it.
The participants also discussed the role the agency plays in supporting and regulating the space sector as well as the importance of coordination with stakeholders on future cooperation and partnership. The participants emphasised that the establishment of the U.A.E. Space Agency and the launch of the Mars probe project were among the important steps taken by U.A.E. to enter the space age and enhance its regional and international standing.
In July, the U.A.E. announced the project to send an unmanned probe to Mars by 2021 in the Arab world’s first mission to another planet. The U.A.E. Space Agency was then created to coordinate the U.A.E.’s growing space technology sector and to supervise the mission.
