(Brussels) – The UAE and European Commission have discussed ways of enhancing relations of cooperation and partnership and of advancing international efforts to respond to humanitarian crises and support international development strategy. At a meeting held recently at the EC headquarters in Belgian capital Brussels with Kristalina Georgieva, European Commissioner responsible for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response, Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of Development and International Co-operation, said the UAE was looking forward to strengthen its relations of partnership and cooperation with the EC in various fields.
During the meeting, Sheikha Lubna briefed gave a briefing on UAE’s contributions in the international development and its prominent stature in that regards. Sheikha Lubna affirmed that current phase in the international development and humanitarian work requires concerted efforts to upgrade international partnership frameworks.
For her part, Georgieva lauded the UAE for making leading efforts in supporting international development and aid work and its effective contributions in international development and assistance gatherings. She also stressed that the UAE and the EC needed to take their partnership to new heights.
