(Abu Dhabi) – Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, opened the fourth edition of Ataya (Ataya 2015) at the International Petroleum Investment Company (IPIC) Arena in Abu Dhabi.
Organised under the patronage of Sheikha Shamsa bint Hamdan, wife of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region and President of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), this year’s edition of Ataya will run till May 7 to raise funds for building a maternity and children’s hospital in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region.
Sheikh Nahyan told that the success of the exhibition reflects the keen interest that Sheikha Shamsa takes in charity work in line with the directives of the UAE top leaders, namely President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and the follow up of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
He hailed the exhibition for bringing together participants from Arab countries, including from the Gulf region, to take part in the charity effort to help children and mothers in the Iraqi region.
