(Abu Dhabi) – UAE Foreign Minister H.H. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed urged the international community, in particular the Security Council, the United Nations and the United States to carry out their responsibilities and put an end to the policy of double standards towards the Palestinian people. He asserted that the root of problem lies in the continued Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories and the arrogance practiced by Israel.
Addressing a joint press conference along with the Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Joudah held at the Foreign Ministry, Sheikh Abdullah expressed hope that the U.S. administration will fulfil the promises it had given the region and will consider them with utmost seriousness. Sheikh Abdullah said, “What is happening in Gaza gives us all a clear message about the need to end the Israeli occupation. It is easy to denounce the aggressions on Gaza, but the main problem is continuation of the Israeli occupation. Our Arab region will not live in peace if the occupation continues”.
Regarding Jordan, Sheikh Abdullah said Jordan is in a difficult economic situation, adding that the UAE and other GCC states were discussing how to help Jordan overcome the difficulties. For his part, the Jordanian Foreign Minister said that his country was exerting efforts for pacification in Gaza and avoiding consequences of the aggression”, referring to the need for coordination to immediately cease fire as the volatile region could not stand upsurge of violence.
