Large number of visitors attend ‘Bahrain Light Festival’

(Manama) – In a glittering ceremony, the Bahrain Light Festival was launched by Minister of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani, in the presence of Chief Executive Officer of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority Shaikh Khaled Bin Humood Al Khalifa.
The festival, organised as part of the ‘Manama Gulf Capital of Tourism 2016’, was held at Al Fateh corniche and aims to introduce the latest innovations in light installations by showcasing the works of international contemporary artists.
Among the international artists taking part in the event are Titia Ex who will be exhibiting her ‘flower from the universe’ installation along with Jane Louise Studio who will be exhibiting ‘the pool’ which is an interactive installation. The Bahrain Light Festival will also feature the work of renowned Arabic calligraphist, Karim Jabbari, who will be exhibiting innovative installations inspired by the Arabic typography. The festival also included the latest innovations and light installations such as Jellights and Les Lumineoles.
The Minister of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism praised the event organized by the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority further stressing on the importance of such festival’s in highlighting the Kingdom’s touristic offering. He also stated that the participation of international artists through unique artworks and lighting instillations has transformed Al Fateh Corniche and the capital Manama into a beautiful light haven. He stressed the importance of such events in promoting key touristic and heritage sites in line with Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority’s efforts to increase the number of tourists coming to Bahrain.
Further commenting on the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority Shaikh Khaled Bin Humood Al Khalifa said: ”The festival aims to introduce visitors to a unique and colourful experience which is suitable for all age groups. It is an opportunity for people to interact and engage through a creative platform.” The Bahrain Light Festival will run until the 9th of May from 6pm to11pm, and it is free to the public.
