(Manama) – The Supreme Council for Women (SCW) marked the International Women’s Day, which falls on the 8th of March.

The SCW General Secretariat seized the annual occasion, which is observed worldwide, to line up a series of events in cooperation with relevant national entities.

It held an event themed “Kidneys and Women’s Health” in cooperation with the Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC) Department of transplantation and kidney diseases.

Kidney diseases department chief Dr. Ali Al-Aradi delivered a lecture on ways of averting kidney failure. The SCW employees underwent kidney check-ups on this occasion.

The SCW General Secretariat held a walking session inside its headquarters as part of practices that promote the quality of life for the employees, with plans to expand the experience to other state institutions.

The general-secretariat coordinated with the Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments to organise fields visits to the family courts complex, which was officially inaugurated early 2018.

It took part also in a ceremony which was held at Al-Hekma International School. Success stories were also showcased, highlighting women’s gains and strides under the reform project, which was launched by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa.
