(Manama) – His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has stressed the importance of sports in fostering rapprochement among peoples and cultures, lauding the role of sporting events in consolidating the existing ties of love and fraternity shared among Arab and GCC people.

HRH Premier also highlighted the importance of sporting events in improving the level of Arab and GCC sports, as well as in developing outstanding talents in various sports.

HRH the Prime Minister lauded Bahrain’s hosting the First Arab Championship and First GCC Cup of Indoor Skydiving, noting that the events boost the kingdom’s status and prestigious reputation in hosting mega regional and international championships.

The Prime Minister made the statements as he paid a visit to “Gravity Indoor Skydiving”, where the First Arab Championship and First GCC Cup of Indoor Skydiving are hold in association with Arab Air Sports Federation and Bahrain Air Sports Federation.

HRH Premier met the heads of the participating delegations of the GCC and Arab associations, and watched part of the championships.

HRH the Prime Minister commended the efforts of championship’s officials to ensure an outstanding organisation of the events to reflect the kingdom’s civilisational image, as well as the kingdom’s strides in the indoor skydiving sport, wishing the participants every success.

HRH Premier emphasised the government’s keenness on encouraging investment in the field of sports as the best means to enhance Bahrain’s sport and tourism competitiveness, extolling Bahrain’s outstanding success in hosting many international sporting events.

Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa extended sincere thanks and appreciation to HRH the Prime Minister for his interest in encouraging various sports which, he said, has enabled them to raise the kingdom’s banners at regional and international podiums, lauding the Premier’s directives that contributed to consolidating the kingdom’s status, and ability to attract mega international sporting events.

Heads of the participating GCC and Arab delegations extended thanks and appreciation to the Prime Minister for his support to the championship, lauding the tremendous efforts exerted by the kingdom to ensure the success of the two events.
