(Jeddah) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Undersecretary of Regional and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Affairs, Waheed Mubarak Sayyar, took part in the ministerial meeting of the GCC Ministers of Foreign Affairs in the Saudi city of Jeddah.
The meeting was co-chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Adel bin Ahmed Al Jubeir, the US Secretary of State, John Kerry and UK Minister of State for the Middle East and Africa, Tobias Ellwood.
The meeting was attended by United Nations Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Yemen, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, and GCC Secretary-General, Dr Abdullatif Al Zayani. Discussions during the meeting included the latest developments in the Republic of Yemen and efforts exerted to restore security and peace in the country.
The officials expressed their support to the efforts of the UN Special Envoy to achieve an agreement for the roadmap in the near future based on UN Security Council Resolution 2216, the Gulf initiative and its mechanism for implementation as well as the results of the Comprehensive National Dialogue to reach a comprehensive political and security solution in Yemen.
