(Manama) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, affirmed that relations between the GCC and the US is based on clear foundations and strong pillars, most importantly working to achieve joint interests as well as continued coordination and consultation towards various issues to achieve strategic and sustainable partnership and bolster regional security and stability.
This came during the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs at a meeting comprised GCC Foreign Ministers and the US Secretary of State, John Kerry, today in the Belgian capital Brussels.
The meeting discussed means of bolstering American-GCC relations in various political, defence and security fields, as well as the latest regional developments.
Ways to boost efforts to combat terrorism to ensure eradicating that phenomenon that threatens countries across the world and eliminating all its causes and drying up its funding were also discussed.
During the meeting, the importance of the strategic ties between the two sides were affirmed as well as the importance of exerting further regional and international efforts in line with the complexity of the problems facing the international community, which requires more international unity to face and overcome them and move towards a more secure and stable phase.
