(Islamabad) – Deputised by His Majesty the King, National Guard Commander Lieutenant General Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa Al Khalifa took part, alongside Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, in a celebration held in Islamabad on the occasion of laying the cornerstone of King Hamad University for Nursing and Medical Sciences.

Representatives from King Hamad University in Bahrain also participated and one of them presented the Pakistani Prime Minister with a briefing on the project which won the appreciation of the attendees.

The Pakistani Premier extended thanks and appreciation to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for his donation to build the medical nursing university in Islamabad.

The National Guard Commander lauded historic ties binding Bahrain and Pakistan, pointing out the need for more cooperation amid regional developments. He also underlined Bahrain’s keenness to assist brotherly and friendly countries and contribute to boosting the welfare of their peoples. He noted that the project ordered by HM the King is a vivid proof of relations of friendship and cooperation between Bahrain and Pakistan.

The foundation stone of the project was laid as per an agreement signed between the two friendly countries in August 2016 which aims primarily at broadening the scope of historic bilateral relations and cooperation.

The project is considered as the dividend of the visit of HM the King to Pakistan at the outset of 2014.
