(Manama) – Deputy Premier Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al-Khalifa visited the Bahrain Pearling Trail, which features on the UNESCO List of World Heritage Sites. He was accompanied by Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa, director-general of the office of His Royal Highness the First Deputy Prime Minister.
They also visited a number of heritage houses, branching from the Shaikh Ibrahim bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa Centre for Culture and Research, which located on the Bahrain Pearling Trail. The visit was at the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA) President Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al-Khalifa.
The Deputy Premier hailed the milestone, commending the efforts led by BACA president to renovate vestiges reminiscent of Bahrain’s longstanding heritage, which represents tourism attractions. Shaikha Mai thanked the Deputy Premier for his keenness on promoting culture, hailing the wise leadership’s support to efforts to turn Bahrain into a regional and international cultural hub.
She underscored the importance of the Muharraq Capital of Islamic Culture 2018, in recognition of the iconic town’s heritage and cultural standing. She announced plans to launch a string of projects which include – the Bahrain Pearling Trail project, Bahrain’s pavilion in Milan Expo 2015, located at the Beit Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al-Khalifa, and other landmark schemes. The visit which started at the Bahrain National Museum included the Halat Boumaher Visitors’ Centre, Bahrain’s pavilion in Milan Expo 2015, the heritage houses and other iconic sites.
