The SCW Secretary General Hala Al-Ansari said launching the international award reflects the advanced standing of women at the national level. She added that this advanced status is the outcome of HRH Princess Sabeeka’s pioneering vision and keenness to boost Bahraini women’s sustainable participation as a key partner in the national economy. She also pointed out the council’s efforts to promote women’s standing at the global level and carry out the goals of sustainable development. She affirmed that launching the award at the international level coincides with the 10th anniversary of its inauguration at the national level.
The award aims to ensure commitment of countries, official agencies and organisations, through their legislative, public and private executive authorities as well as the civil society, to adopting non-discriminatory policies against women and achieving justice in equal opportunities between women and men in various fields. It also aims to highlight and appreciate the institutional and individual efforts, initiatives and projects that target mainstreaming women’s needs so as to bring about a positive change in the status of women towards a more stable and productive life.
