Merkel tops 'Forbes' list of most Powerful Women(New York) – According to the annual ranking released by Forbes Magazine, German Chancellor Angela Merkel tops the ‘100 most powerful woman in the world list’ for the second year. Also in the top five are U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, followed by Brazilian President, Dilma Rousseff; Co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Melinda Gates and Jill Abramson, executive editor of the New York Times.
The women in the list are ranked according to their influence, the amount of money they control or earn, media presence and their involvement in the fields of policy-making, entertainment, technology and nonprofit organizations, among other fields.
“These power women exert influence in very different ways and to very different ends, and all with very different impacts on the global community,” said Moira Forbes, President and Publisher of ForbesWoman.
