Gulf states to meet on Iran-UAE island issue(Dubai) – Foreign ministers of the six Gulf states are to hold a special meeting in Riyadh after Iran’s President, Mahmoud Ahmedinejad visited an island in the Gulf that is claimed by the United Arab Emirates, a UAE official said.
Gulf Cooperation Council’s (GCC) meeting in the Saudi capital comes at the request of the UAE, after Abu Dhabi pulled out its envoy, Saif Mohammed Abid al-Zaabi “for consultations” and denounced Ahmadinejad’s trip as a “flagrant violation of UAE sovereignty over its territories”.
