(Kuala Lumpur) – Information Affairs Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al Romaihi has met with Malaysian Minister of Multimedia and Communications, Salleh Said Keruak, and stressed the role of the historic Bahraini-Malaysian summit in consolidating partnership and cooperation in the political, economic, social, media and cultural areas.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the current official visit of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to Malaysia aimed at boosting joint development interests and reinforcing Islamic solidarity, as well as the efforts to promote international and regional peace and security.

Al Romaihi reviewed ways to enhance media cooperation, exchange of expertise and coordination in areas of radio and TV production, in addition to wider cooperation between Bahrain News Agency (BNA) and Malaysia’s national news agency Bernama.

The minister offered his congratulations to press and media personnel in both Bahrain and Malaysia on World Press Freedom Day.

He pointed out the importance of concerted media efforts in highlighting the Islamic cultural and civilizational identity, disseminating the genuine image of Islam in bolstering the values of tolerance, justice, peace and moderation and confronting violence, terrorism and incitement to sectarian and racial hatred.

The Malaysian minister welcomed the royal visit to his country, stressing that he looked forward to broadening media cooperation to contribute to boosting bilateral relations and accentuating Islamic issues in international forums.
