(Abu Dhabi) – For 52 days, Abu Dhabi will witness numerous summer activities and hotel promotions during this year’s SummerFest, which commences on June 27 and runs until August 17. Sesame Street, Lazy Town, Emirati TV personalities, and Freej will make their debut among a series of performances running through the festival which will occupy four halls at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec).
“We also specified a number of shows for adults, namely, the STOMP dynamic music performance at the Emirates Palace and the Axis of Evil Comedy Tour showing at the Du Arena over the weekend,” said the festival’s manager, Sultan Al Muhairi.
Some of the children’s activities featured at Adnec include a traditional corner where youngsters can learn more about Emirati culture through handicraft and pot-painting activities. Meanwhile, an obstacle course titled Jebel Hafeet, will allow kids to explore their sense of adventure and challenge their physical agility. Emirati animated cartoon character Mansour, who was made public at last year’s Summer in Abu Dhabi, will be made available for children to watch on a large screen. Meanwhile, the Urban Planning Council and a Lego stand will provide edutainment opportunities so that the capital’s younger generation of citizens and residents can further their understanding of buildings and city mapping. A competition at the Urban Planning Council lets children draw their future city. The winning piece will be announced on the 42nd National Day.
