(Dubai) – Watani Al Emarat has invited filmmakers in the UAE to enter a competition, namely “72 hours’ filmmaking contest” to produce a short film in 72 hours in any language to support the Dubai Expo 2020 bid under the theme: “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”. H.E. Dherar Belhoul Al Falasi, General Director of Watani Al Emarat Institution, said the contest is a national innovative initiative to support the Dubai Expo 2020 bid.
Filmi, an initiative to provide a single platform to Emirati filmmakers and producers, was launched last year by Watani. It has so far registered 350 Emirati filmmakers and producers nationwide. Young filmmakers and producers under the banner of Filmi have produced a total of six films, which have been showcased in various film festivals across the Gulf.
