(Los Angeles) – Canadian pop star Justin Bieber, who has been in trouble with the law in recent months, is to be formally charged with vandalism in Los Angeles over an egg-throwing attack. The teen idol was not expected to appear at the hearing, in a city court at 1.30pm (2030 GMT), said a statement from the LA prosecutor’s office.
“Singer Justin Bieber will be charged with one count of misdemeanor vandalism for allegedly throwing eggs at a neighbour’s Calabasas home,” it said, naming a pricey suburb of Los Angeles where a number of celebrities live.
Police had said soon after the attack they would be investigating felony charges against Bieber.
