(Cairo) – H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister of UAE, attended the Arab Peace Initiative Committee’s session held at the General Headquarters of the Arab League at the level of Foreign Ministers, to discuss the latest developments regarding the Palestinian issue and ways to address the Israeli expansion plans in Jerusalem city, and its aggressions in Al Aqsa Mosque.
The UAE delegation included Mohammed bin Nahkhira Al Dhaheri, UAE Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to Arab League, Dr. Jassim Mohammed Al Khalofi, Director of the Department of Arab Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ali Al Shamili, the official in charge of the Arab League at the UAE Embassy in Cairo.
The committee’s session was chaired by the Kuwait’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Sabah Al Khalid Al Hamad Al Sabah, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, and the Arab League Secretary-General, Dr. Nabil Al Arabi.
Ahmed bin Heli, Deputy Secretary-General of the Arab League, said the committee has been following the developments in the Palestinian issue and ways to tackle the Israeli aggressions in Al Aqsa Mosque and the expansion plans in Jerusalem. It also discussed steps to back the Palestinian proposal to end the occupation in accordance with a time frame through the United Nations Security Council. It will also discuss the EU’s stance regarding recognition of the Palestinian statehood.
